The usefulness of polyester lining depends on how well its characteristics match the garment. Rather than selecting a lining simply because it is polyester, manufacturers should assess weight, weave, surface, construction and compatibility with the outer fabric. This approach is particularly important when the same production setup handles different garment styles.
Polyester lining fabric can be produced in different constructions, and each one offers a distinct character. Taffeta (190T), available at 52–65 GSM, is lightweight, smooth and non-bulky. Satin ranges from 67–80 GSM and has a smooth, glossy surface with good drape. Satin dobby is 72–82 GSM, providing a textured satin base and richer hand. Jacquard ranges from 80–85 GSM and has a woven surface pattern.
Production requirements should influence the selection. Manufacturers can compare fabric width, roll length, GSM, surface and hand feel alongside the outer material. Cutting requirements are also relevant because width and roll length influence how fabric is planned and handled. The lining should be tested through the actual sewing and finishing process rather than judged entirely from a technical specification.
Sampling is therefore an important step before a bulk order. Use the real outer fabric and examine movement, hang, seams, pressing and overall appearance. Double Ghoda supplies 100% polyester lining from 52–85 GSM in Taffeta, Satin, Satin Dobby and Jacquard constructions. The range comes in 45-metre rolls, with black, navy, white and off-white among the top-selling shades and 50+ shades available overall. For repeat production, an approved sample can serve as a reference when checking future fabric batches.
